Online Courses - How to Make Your Own Perfume (Part 5)

The fifth part of this online course is subdivided in two main stages - the filtering of your homemade perfume and its storage. To achieve the desired effect, your own perfume should be carefully filtered after the mix of essential oils, alcohol and water has stayed about several weeks. And then, you have to know some tips when storing your own fragrance.

First, for the filtering process you can use a coffee filter paper or just a pressed piece of cotton. After the mixture has matured for two or three weeks – stir slowly the whole liquid and you will also need a bigger container, about 200ml-300ml. Then, pass the mixture through the filter and keep it in the bigger container. Another method for filtering is to use a transparent glass bottle and to remove any visible remaining oil that hasn't fully dispersed into the other components. Also, a good method to filter your homemade perfume is to put a piece of cotton or coffee filter under the cap of the container, then close it tightly and leave it with the cap facing down for 24 hours. In this way, the heaviest and non-degradable ingredients will be deposited on the filter. In general, the purpose of the filtering stage is to remove any sediment that has formed, and to achieve a truly clear and transparent liquid.

Second, the storage is also a very important part in the enterprise of making your own perfume. From the beginning to the end of this process, it is recommended to work on the assembling of the ingredients in a dry and cool environment. Moreover, if you want to be sure that the final effect will be the best - try to work in a sterile environment. For example, cover the windows so that no any direct sunlight appears. All the surfaces, containers, paddles, pipettes, etc. could be also cleaned carefully with alcohol and dried well. Mostly, a good idea is to use a medical gloves and hats. Also, be careful between the stages when the container of your own perfume matures in a dark and cool place.

Transfer the fragrant liquid to an appropriate bottle with spraying system, and your homemade perfume is ready to use. But be aware, that you should also store it carefully in the everyday use. Thus, will make it last longer in quantity, as well as in quality. A good idea is to use a dark-colored bottle and always remember to close the bottle tightly after application. Also, store the homemade perfume bottle in a dark, cool and dry place, such as cabinet, bedside table or a special perfume wardrobe. And most of all - don`t forget to enjoy the smell of your own perfume!
